      How...

We've actually been kicking it around the office trying to figure out just how in the hell they did this. Some really interesting ideas.

Everyone seems to agree this is definately a Clark W. Griswald style show. He would be proud.

My 6 year-old son LOVES that song. He found my Trans Siberian Orchestra CD and he plays that song over and over.
I can't wait till he gets home from school and show him.

Well, my 6 year-old came home. I called him to the computer to see the video. 30 seconds into it he walks away saying "I want to do my homework".
Looks like I was the only one impressed at my house.

That took a little ingenuity and work as well as several kilometers of wire.

It would be really cool to live across the street from that house... for about half an hour.

Wonder if I might.....Naw, my neighbors have guns and would only appreciate it for less time than to make something.

Out in Fremont there is a whole block where all the neighbors decorate big time, lights/displays etc.. Actually causes a traffic jam for all the people driving by to see.

But never saw anything to match that light show.

My Theory is that this guy is an Electrical Engineer with some machine programing experience and too much time on his hands. It is very neat though.

Trans Siberian Orchestra huh? Have to latch on to some CDs, I liked that.

That looks pretty cool, but my vote is that it was faked. I have 2 reasons, the movement of the bushes right in the foreground have a choppy south park animation look to them. So the film seems to be a series of snapshots. The second is the music matches the lights to close. If the sound was back at the house the lights would be running ahead of the sound track when filled that way.

                        BUT!!
Still impressesed as I do not have the skills to do it either way. I am going to show my wife and threaten to try to duplicate it. Maybe she will offer to put the lights up this year!!
I have a bike and I am not afraid to use it

i thought the same when i first watch it that they had taken a digi cam shot of each combination then spliced them together. the second time i watched i noticed what appears to be a tower marker flashing in the background to the left of the house. it flashes in a perfect pattern throughout the whole video. there went my theory.

From everythink I've seen, these are all done with Light-O-Rama channels and is all controlled by computer to sync it to the music.

Go to this site for a better explaination and other similar videos, although not quite as good.
